Life, all the way around.

A good friend of mine is in the middle of trudging through all the bureaucracy it takes to bring over a soon-to-be-wife and her children from Thailand. I've seen pics of the family, and they're beautiful, all of them. I'm so excited for him, and I hope that soon things work out for him. *sending happy wishes*

As for me, I believe I've lost a friend over a recent decision I've made, and that makes me sad. However, the decision relates to my own life, and it's a decision I feel good about, so I don't know what exactly I can do about it. Sometimes life just doesn't work out the way you want it to, which sucks. Maybe someday we will talk again. I hope.

My dad is here in KC, staying with me for a couple of weeks. He's sold his house and is moving to California, which will be good for him. At first his visit was strained, and when he learned of my decision recently made, he wasn't too thrilled about it either. However, I think he's come around as he's learned more, and seems to be happily accepting it now. Well, maybe not quite ACCEPTING it, but pleasantly tolerating it at least. ;) It's been a good visit after that first couple of days, and he's all about going out to eat at night...something that is good for my pocketbook, but not so good for my waist. Ahh well, this may be the last time I see him for quite some time, so it's time to enjoy life.

Work's...work. Right now we're pretty slow for the most part, so I've spent my days hopelessly checking for emails that seldom arrive, and excitedly answering them when they do. Yesterday (St. Patrick's Day), it seemed like a ghost town around here. Tons of people took the day off to go party. I might've done the same thing, if my dad hadn't been in town, and if I hadn't taken some time off recently to talk to my kids' classes about fest-stuff. That was pretty fun, and the kids seemed to really enjoy it.

Relations with my ex are the same...we talk as infrequently as we can get away with it while still managing to stay updated on kid-things. He's seeing a new girl now, by the name of Amanda, who is 25, and he takes every opportunity to tell me how TIRED he is all the time, because of their sex life. *rolls her eyes* Whatever. I'm sure if I said something similar to him, he'd have a heart attack.

*thinks*

Hmm. Now THERE'S an idea! >:D
