I'm a tree! I'm a tree! *poses*

This weekend was hectic. To recap, for those who are keeping tabs (Amanda, heh):
Friday night: Went to volunteer at Oktoberfest with my friend Jessica. We were hoping to land in a beer booth, but got stuck at the front gate area instead, boo. Note, if you will, that the guy in charge had NO idea what he was doing, and that Jess and I both worked this same job 2 years ago when the place was run by someone who DID know what she was doing. Note also, that I worked 2 summers at the Worlds of Fun front gate, so I know a thing or two about selling/taking tickets and about guest admission processes. Jess and I recommended several alternate ways to do things to make it all run more smoothly, but the idiot staffer wouldn't hear of it. So our 3.5 hour shift dragged slowly by as we tried to make the best of it. At last we were released and went to grab a beer and some food. In the meantime, Chris was hanging out with the kids at the RayPec high school football game (Brenna and one of her friends wanted to go), so when I got home, the house was empty. Not for long, though, as the crew came home around 10:30 with a plea from Brenna to spend the night at her friend's house. Cool, fine, and Chris jumped in the car again to take them over to the other house. We didn't see Brenna again until dinnertime the next night.
Saturday: Got up early for a soccer game of Connor's, then went home to grab the dog and took her over to Petco for some socialization and car-ride practice. Her tail had been squished the night before in the car door by Brenna's friend, so Chris wanted to make sure she didn't associate cars with pain. Brought everyone back home and then Chris and I hopped on the bikes and went to seer_of_athena's house for a bit of computer work and delicious brownies. Then back home, just in time for me to run to the grocery store and back, unload the groceries, make dinner, welcome home Brenna, and then dash off to the Fest site to attend the handfasting of some friends. After the handfasting, we went to the happy couple's home to celebrate with them outside at their backyard firepit. I caught a bad case of the blues while we sat out there, because the friendship just really isn't what it used to be, and I was feeling very left out as the other people talked all around Chris and I. Chris kept himself happy by playing with the fire, and I busied myself by cuddling with a kitten who Chris had found and brought to me, but I was really ready to go long before we actually left. I wish the couple much happiness, and I wish we could be closer, but I am starting to believe it's just not in the cards for us anymore. Chris and I talked about it in the car on the way home, and he suggested that maybe his purpose in their lives has run its course. I just wish I knew that for sure because it's hard for me to gauge my behavior when I don't know what to expect out of people. *sigh* Got home around 11:30.
Sunday: Got up early again, beat the NASCAR traffic to the Faire site, and spent almost 7 hours straight working the archery line. They'd been slammed the day before and had been short on staff, so we felt it was our duty to make sure they had adequate staff at least one of the days. By the time the 4th shift was ready to take over, we said our goodbyes and headed for the car. I'd worn my new hair...I'd bought a new 3/4 fall that's close to my own haircolor and was very afraid it'd be obvious that it was fake, but I had a few people come up and compliment me on how pretty my hair was, so I guess it looked real enough. Now I need to figure out how to wash it without ruining it. :o I was starving for something more substantial than sandwiches at home, so after changing into normal clothes, we gathered the brood and headed out for Mexican food. Yum! I think I rolled myself to the car, heh. We'd planned to settle down and (finally) relax with a movie, but Connor declared (at 8pm) that he needed 10-13 photos of himself for a school project, and the photos wouldn't be returned. *sigh* Thus began the adventure of digging through dusty boxes of photos that need to go into albums, and trying to determine just which ones I can part with and not miss. Connor's at the age where GOD FORBID should he bring a photo where he looks anything but cool, so he wouldn't take any of the cute baby photos that I have millions of. Bleh. I think between what I could find (that were acceptable) and what Chris could find on the computer and print off, he should have enough. Barely. Gah. Finally sent the kids to bed and we turned on the movie...and I promptly fell asleep.
Ahh, well, there's always tonight. After dinner. And homework. And washing the wig. And cleaning up. And moving laundry around. And playing with the dog.
*thinks*
And I want to get my Masters on top of all of this?
*cackles*
I'm insane. :p
