Had a busy weekend again...Left Friday night to take the kids to their dad's, then headed up to Albany, MO to stay the night with some of Chris's friends and then attend their (re-)wedding on Saturday.  They'd already been married more than a year ago, but had done so without friends or family present, so this was their time to have a big-white-dress-and-tuxes sort of wedding.  It was blisteringly hot, so instead of having an outdoor wedding, they opted instead to just do the ceremony in the same community center where the reception was to be held.  We brought the puppy with us, and aside from one bark at the beginning of the ceremony, she was very good.

We spent yesterday doing some much-needed stuff around the house...getting the backyard ready to be tilled for flower gardening, getting the house fully vacuumed and Borax laid down, running to the grocery store, etc.  AND...my own happy news, I jumped on [livejournal.com profile] rowangolightly's suggestion of a good bread machine and went and bought my own.  Since I'm a gottahaveitnow sort of girl, I couldn't wait for a full cycle to be done, so my first loaf was a basic white on the quick-speed or whatever you call it setting.  Came out pretty dang good, I will say.  I'm looking forward to experimenting with other recipes and have friended the bread machine LJ group as well.

We got a call yesterday afternoon that the soccer team that Connor's been practicing with all summer "doesn't have room for him."  Bastards.  They did give me the name of another coach who was still looking for players, though, and I had a nice long talk with the coach's wife and I feel better about this team anyway.  They're taking Connor sight-unseen, so good for them.  He'll be a nice asset to their team, I hope.

Chris and I took the puppy to the vet this morning...she's already 45.4 lbs, eek!!  This is going to be one BIG dog.  We knew she'd be big, but whew...she's going to be BIG.  We also took Fantasy, one of our cats, because she's been babying one of her back legs since Thursday.  The doc suspects that she may have somehow injured her knee (maybe torn a ligament), so she got a cortisone shot and we'll cross our fingers that she heals on her own.  Otherwise she'll go back in a week for x-rays.  :(  Poor kitty!

Next weekend should be relatively calm, so yippee for that.  Maybe once it cools down a bit, I'll get back on my bike and figure out how to ride it.  :)

*LMAO* ...aside from one bark at the beginning of the ceremony, she was very good...

It's utterly amazing how we quantify our lives once we have animals, isn't it?

And *yay* for the bread-machine!

Hah, yeah...I was apprehensive about taking her at all, but Chris said it'd be fine and we cleared it with the wedding couple as well. Fortunately it was a very laid back atmosphere, with almost all of the attendees being family.

Thanks again for the recommendation on the bread machine...it's wonderful!
