When it rains, it pours.

I've been kvetching about work occasionally, the main issue being that I have been bored out of my gourd, as all three of the projects I've been assigned to are being worked on by developers right now. So...2 days ago I was given the heads up to get ready to start doing some automation upon direction of the guy who will lead the project, so I printed out a 400-page manual and got it into a book, and read, oh, maybe 10 pages into it so far. Things here tend to run slowly, so I figured I still had time, and once I know what I'll be doing, I can peck through the book to get just the info I REALLY need to know.
Then yesterday afternoon, I was told that I'd be put on a 4th project. Woo, okay. As I was getting ready to go talk to the lead on that project, the lead from my 1st project came over and wanted to know how my time looked, because she needed me to work on something for project 1. I told her about the newly acquired project 4, and she misunderstood who I was telling her I was about to go see, and she said that person would be out until Monday. "Oh, okay, well then, yeah, I have time to do what you want me to do, and will work on that for the rest of the week." She went away happy.
I then found out that project 4's person IS in the office, so I went to talk to her, and now I have a mountain of new things to learn and that project is apparently not doing well and could very well take up 40 hours a week for awhile. *raises an eyebrow*
So THEN...this MORNING, I'm told that I'm going to completely assume all 508 testing on ALL of the projects (not just my 4...we're talking a TON of projects). 508 testing is the sort of testing you do to make sure the application is accessible to the disabled...that screen-readers can read it, you can get through it with only a keyboard, etc. So, MORE new stuff to learn. Eek!
*looks around*
Um...I might just be slightly less posty for awhile. Just so you know. ;p

Last night Chris and I and Connor (and Sasha) went over to have dinner with
seer_of_athena and her hubby and their 2 dogs. We had a great time and practically rolled home, our bellies filled to the brim with delicious food. :) We're hoping to make this a regular sort of thing, 'cause it's so easy to get too busy to stay connected with friends, and friends are important to stay connected to. Especially in today's world, when we all live so far from our actual blood-relatives. (I was going to say Family, but I consider them family already, so that word doesn't work, heh.)

I got a call from
petey1980 yesterday, about Chess Match for KCRF. Chris and I might take part, if they can use us, and if the kids' soccer schedules don't have a zillion games scheduled for the afternoons. Even if they do, Chris may still go ahead and do it. I'd love to, but need to put the kids first, you know? The year I did the area manager gig, I just felt sick over missing most of their games...like I was a terrible mother, even though they both tried to reassure me that they didn't mind so much. Brenna once put on a school paper that one of the reasons she loved me was because I always came to all of her games, even if they were at 6:00 in the morning (as some of her indoor games were...aacckk.) After I read that, I understood how important it was that I put their games first, over and above anything I'd like to do, really. Fest will always be around, right? The kids, only for a few more years. <3 So I might have to wait on Chess Match, if that's the case.
Anyhow, so I guess we're going to go to the rehearsal on Sunday, just to see what's up. :)
