This morning I rode my bike all the way up Hwy 71, through the Grandview triangle, and up 435 to 63rd Street. I am woman, hear me roar!! :D
And you know, going 65-70 MPH really isn't so bad, after all. Especially with the lighter helmet. Yay!!!

So today I rode my bike alllll the way on the highway to work, instead of taking my usual maze of slower back roads. It wasn't so bad...traffic wasn't horrible, and I stayed upright the whole time, heh. When I got to work, I parked amongst all of the other motorcycles so that Blue (my bike, which is black, but that's what I've named her) would have other bikes to talk to during the day, rather than parking her way out in the back corner so that I wouldn't hit anyone or anything on my way in or out. I did good! And a car with 3 big guys in it passed me and one of them stuck his fist in the air at me, as if to say "Good job!" :D
At lunch, I rode in my friend Donisha's car with her as we went to a grocery store's deli counter to get subs made, and as we were walking back from her car and into the building, we passed the row of bikes. A guy who works on the same floor I do, who's talked to me a few times about RenFest, was sitting on his bike, which happened to be parked next to mine. I pointed to Blue and told him proudly, "That's MY bike!" He thought I was kidding at first, but once he realized I meant it, he was like, "No sh!t??" And he got off his bike and sat on my bike (*gasp!* That's a no-no in the circles I run in, unless you have permission!) and said he liked it. He wanted to know how long I'd been riding, and I said not long, and I told him the bike only had about 130 miles on it (though maybe it's more like 150 after the ride this morning), and he said that every day at lunch he goes for his therapy of riding through the park our work is near, and that he's taught more than a few people here at work to ride. Huh. He was impressed that the bike is new, too. We talked a bit about what I might upgrade to once I have a few thousand miles under my belt, and then Donisha and I went inside.
I've been thinking about riding through the park at lunch now...not with him, unless it just happens that we both were walking to the bikes at the same time, but just to get more comfy with curves and stuff. Chris is my personal riding instructor, and I don't think I'd even want to open a door that might make this guy think I was interested...but it's good to know at least one person here who also rides, who if I got stuck, might be able to help me with bike issues.
I'm glad it's staying warm for so long this year...it's becoming more and more fun to ride for me. :)
